State of the Art Buildings for Kissy Barracks
Residents and personnel attached to the Kissy Barracks in the eastern part of Freetown are set to benefit from a major infrastructural transformation following plans to construct modern state of the art buildings aimed at improving accommodation and welfare conditions.
The development initiative, which has already generated excitement among officers and community stakeholders, forms part of broader efforts by the IGP William Fayia Sellu to modernize the SLP infrastructure and provide decent housing facilities for personnel and their families.
According to reports, the project will include the construction of modern five storey apartment buildings equipped with self-contained two-bedroom apartments, two veranda, two toilets, parlour, store, and improved water systems.
Officials say the initiative is intended to add to the aging structures that have existed at the barracks for decades.
The project is also expected to enhance sanitation, improve security within the barracks community, and create a more conducive living environment for officers serving the nation.
Residents have described the planned development as timely and necessary, noting that many existing structures no longer meet modern housing standards.
Security sector observers have commended the current SLP leadership move, describing it as part of the growing trend toward infrastructural modernization within Sierra Leone’s security sector.
Authorities further assured the public that the Kissy Barracks project is purely a development initiative aimed at improving welfare and should not be misconstrued as an attempt to sell or relocate the barracks.
Officials urged residents and stakeholders to support the construction process to ensure successful completion of the project.
Many residents in the Kissy community have welcomed the proposed transformation, expressing optimism that the project will not only improve the image of the barracks but also contribute to urban development in the eastern part of Freetown.
Once completed, the modern structures are expected to stand as one of the latest symbols of infrastructural advancement within Sierra Leone’s security sector.
