An Unforgettable Town Hall Meeting… But Can We Have More?

An Unforgettable Town Hall Meeting… But Can We Have More?
It is estimated that His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio’s town hall meeting on Tuesday, was viewed by millions of people on various social media platforms.
This was as a result of the coordinated effort by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education to publicize the event on various social media handles prior to the date which enabled citizens to send in their questions that they would have loved to ask the president.
As expected, the charismatic and soft-spoken Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah echoed the minds and thoughts of the audience by relaying questions submitted on the ministry’s platform to the president.
The outcome of the engagement at the Bintumani International Conference hall, brought renewed hope and commitment to those who had been longing to have an engagement with the President.
From the current energy situation, to climate change, to human capital development, President Bio was able to showcase actions and progress his government had done and his fresh determination to do more within his remaining terms in office.
Addressing the dire need to protect water sources in the Western area, President Bio vowed to demolish houses and structures along the Green Belt as an affront to those who thought they were untouchable and powerful enough to twist the law in their favor.
For a man as calm as the moon, President Bio is a man of few words but more actions and his public announcement of such directives to the security forces shows his determination and readiness to leave no stone unturned in saving the future of the city.
President Bio’s appeal for citizens to be part of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority’s reform, manifests his desire for citizens inclusion and participation in fixing the energy sector once and for all.
His clarion on citizens to fulfill their civic role by paying for electricity bills while chiding EDSA for non-performance is a top-notch approach to end the blame game and for everyone to take full responsibility for their actions.
Commenting on the recent flooding, President Bio called on Sierra Leoneans to be collectively responsible as climate change is real, and the impact could be felt everywhere.
The town hall meeting is clear proof that the messenger is indeed the message as he was able to communicate his policies and results to not only Sierra Leoneans but the world at Large.
President Bio highlighted his infrastructural gains across the country while looking forward to connecting towns and villages through the various road projects.
Those who made it to the venue and those who watched the engagement via streaming, left with the happy feeling that such an engagement with the president is badly needed as the President was able to showcase what he had done in six years of his governance.
While Minister Chernor Bah deserves commendation for his visible transformation of the information ministry and regular update on government activities, it is also good to be hosting such a town hall meeting to give an interactive face of President Bio’s government with the citizens
