Dr Alie Kabba Mourns With SLPP Following 6 Mile Tragedy

Dr. Alie Kabba, the leading contender for the Sierra Leone People’s Party’s Flagbearer and political strategist, has extended his deepest condolences to the party and the bereaved families following a fatal road accident at 6 Mile that claimed the lives of several SLPP supporters.

In a solemn condolence message released on Monday 20th June, 2025. Kabba described the incident as a “devastating tragedy” that has left a void within the party and the nation.

“This is not only a profound loss to the immediate families of the victims but also a painful moment for the entire SLPP family and the nation as a whole,” he stated. “These were devoted members committed to the progress and unity of our great party and nation.”

The accident reportedly occurred on Sunday, July 19, as a group of SLPP supporters were returning from a political engagement. While official details are still emerging, multiple casualties have been confirmed and several individuals remain hospitalized.

Dr. Kabba paid tribute to the victims, calling them patriots whose dedication to the ideals of One Country, One People should never be forgotten.

“In this moment of deep mourning, I join our members across the country in prayer and reflection. May we find strength in our unity, comfort in our shared grief, and hope in our collective resilience,” he said.

He also offered prayers for the grieving families and urged fellow party members to honour the memory of the deceased by continuing to serve with dignity, compassion, and purpose.

“Let us all honour their memory by continuing to serve with dignity, compassion, and commitment to our shared vision,” he added.

The SLPP is expected to issue an official statement in the coming days. Meanwhile, expressions of grief and solidarity continue to pour in across the country as investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.
