NatCA Slams One Million Dollar Fine on Orange Sierra Leone Over Poor Quality of Service

The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has slammed a One Million Dollar fine on Orange Sierra Leone.
Sources at NatCA state that the fine came about following numerous concerns raised by the public relating to persistently poor network quality.
Despite numerous engagements with Orange Sierra Leone and assurances of service improvement, after several missed deadlines, one being a deadline of 15th December 2024 indicated by ORANGE SL, there remains a significant gap in meeting satisfactory service standards across the country, NatCA stated.
As the ICT regulator, NatCA has invoked relevant provisions of its Act to penalize Orange Sierra Leone, while at the same time given directives to Orange Sierra Leone to implement the necessary network enhancements before the end of February 2025. Failure to comply will result in further penalties.
NatCA has further urged Orange Sierra Leone to take immediate and effective actions to rectify the situation.
