By: Lansana Fofanah

Just a month old in office, the Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust, (NASSIT) Chernor Mamoud Jalloh, has hit the ground running by strengthening institutional reforms, transparency and accountability across the Trust.

Speaking to journalists yesterday during his maiden media cocktail at the Country Lodge, DG Jalloh informed that, an internal investigation that was mounted, has discovered a fraud syndicate that has been existing due to system failures.

He said that some staff of the Trust used to collect contributions from clients but failing to deposit them in the Trust fund. This according to him, has led to summary dismissals of those found wanting while some staff transferred.

Reclaiming of NASSIT Lands and Properties

In a bold step under the leadership of the new Director General, the National Social Security and Insurance Trust, (NASSIT) has informed journalists that the Trust is poised to recover all properties across the country.

While making some clarifications, he said that some people have been encroaching into NASSIT properties at Gloucester and other areas despite several warnings.

To avert this, NASSIT has sought the service of States securities to protect and prosecute anyone found wanting.

Intensifying NASSIT Portfolio

DG Jalloh announced that his regime is treating investment as an emergency there by giving every investment the utmost attention it deserves.

Since NASSIT is a public trust fund, he said that they are exploring all avenues of investment that will bring the much-needed returns.

He therefore referred to the media as a crucial partner in their daily operations.

The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah thanked the media for being part of the transformation through accurate, balanced and credible reporting.

He admonished journalists to always reach out to the Trust when they are in need of any information.
