OMFA President Honored at ACOSAT National Infrastructure Launch
The President of the Old Makeni Franciscans Association (OMFA), Engr. Desmond Ray Kanu, was honored as Guest Speaker at the American College of Science and Technology (ACOSAT) National Infrastructure Launch held on Saturday, 30th May 2026, at the Ebenezer Hall, Circular Road, Freetown.
President Kanu commended ACOSAT’s management for establishing a remarkable institution focused on improving the digital skills of Sierra Leone’s youthful population. He expressed his enthusiasm at being given the opportunity to share the moment with innovators, educators, professionals from diverse fields, and development stakeholders united by a common vision for a more efficient, technologically advanced Sierra Leone.
The soft-spoken engineer said he was impressed to see Sierra Leonean youth taking the lead in developing practical digital solutions to long-standing challenges in identity management, record verification, and institutional efficiency. He described their creativity, determination, and commitment to national development as highly commendable.
He stressed that innovation, digital transformation, and investment in young people are crucial drivers of sustainable development. President Kanu added that shaping Sierra Leone’s future depends on crafting bold ideas, and that the launch of the National Infrastructure made it clear that the youth are more than capable of leading the country’s transformation journey.
He concluded by commending ACOSAT and all those involved in bringing the initiative to life. “I was stunned to witness such passion, talent, and forward thinking on display,” he said. “Together, Sierra Leoneans can build a smarter, more connected, and more prosperous nation.”
